Last October 2012 volunteers helped plant a further 8,000 daffodils - adding to the orgiinal planting of 4,000 in 2011.   Due to the very cold and what seemed a prolonged winter, the  daffs made their appearence in mid April.

December 2012 -

3 JUBILEE OAK TREES come to Winnersh Meadows - they form part of the 60 Jubilee Oak Trees that Wokingham Borough Council are planting throughtout the borough to mark the Queen's jubilee year.

30 SACKS CONTAINING 8,000 DAFFODIL BULBS.

The newly planted daffodils (Narcissi King Alfred DN1) have been planted for the enjoyment of Winnersh residents.  They should be in full flower each March and April starting in 2013 .

The planting started at the Arbor Lane end of the Meadows, continued around to the first mound on the left, then onto the mound facing the Forest School playing field with some planting around the picnic area nearby.  Then over to the mound near the Whardale entrance to the Meadows, in the new orchard and along the banks either side of the orchard area.  Finished off by planting at the Primrose end of the Meadows in the long grass.  Should have a lovely view from the bench under the Horse Chesnut trees.

Residents had asked for additional footpaths to be installed.  One leading to Wharf Dale Road (Winnersh Triangle now known as IQ) from the Arbor Lane direction.  Residents can now cut through Winnersh Meadows to get to work in all weathers.

The other footpath which has been installed is at the furthest point, bottom of the M4 embankment, where the ground has been very muddy.  It has a very nice 'pink' topping.

LOG PILES ARRIVE SATURDAY 3RD MARCH 2012

Roberta Tweedy, a NAG Committee member, and Henrietta Simpson of HRH Landscape Designs selected logs from Dinton Pasturers.

Roberta Tweedy said: " It would have been wonderful if we could have had even larger logs but, sadly, there would have been difficult to transport. However, the ones that we have put in Winnersh Meadows will not only provide a great area for small children to climb about on but they will also be somewhere for young people to sit and chat together. As they are completely natural to the area, they will also make a great habitat for wildlife, too".
